On August 17, 2023 at 11:23 a.m. CST, the InterLibrary Loan Internet Accessible Database (ILLiad) received its one millionth transaction!
The ILLiad was installed August 15, 2006 and since that time, they have processed ONE MILLION requests from our AU patrons to send elsewhere, AUBIExpress (our things to our patrons), and requests from other libraries for things we can supply (copies and loans).
Gail Barton, Christine Black, Fran Judkins, and Brenda Ray make up the current ILL/Document Delivery team at AU Libraries. To reach the one million transaction mark, they and those that came before them had to process in excess of 58,000 transactions per year. Current ILLiad members, Fran, Brenda, and Christine, as well as others pictured below, were all working in ILL/Document Delivery at the time ILLiad was installed. They each made a tremendous mark on many of those requests as they helped to meet the needs of learning and research for students, faculty, and staff near and far.
“Many thanks to the many here at the Auburn University Libraries, past and present, who help make resource sharing the robust service that it is. It greatly benefits our own students and research community but also those afar,” wrote Gail Barton, Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan Librarian and Assistant Professor.
The school who requested an article the 1,000,000th request, came from the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine. The article was:
